# Change your name or password

> Update the display name on your OpenWhispr account or change an email-and-password sign-in.

Open **Settings** and choose **Profile** under **Account**. Your display name and,
when the account has a password, the password controls appear below the signed-in
email address.

## Change your display name

Edit **Display name** and choose **Save**. The new name applies to your account
and is shown to people you collaborate with.

## Change your password

Choose **Change password**, enter the current password, then enter a new one of
at least eight characters. **Sign out other devices** is on by default; leave it
on if you are changing the password because another session may not be trusted.

The password control appears only for accounts that can sign in with an email
address and password. If you sign in only with Google, Apple, Microsoft, or
company SSO, manage that sign-in with its provider.
